Progress on Boring, Oregon Vietnam Memorial Project

By Steve Bates,

We are grateful for the response for the Boring, Oregon Vietnam Memorial Project.

A second donor stone is being ordered which will include the names of all who contributed after January 1st.

This is a Clackamas County Memorial to be placed in the Boring Station Trailhead Park which is a Clackamas County Park.

41 names will be engraved on the Memorial Stone. These are the names of those who died in Vietnam whose Home of Record was in Clackamas County.

The names will be listed by community. 4 from Boring; 2 from Canby; 1 from Clackamas; 1 from Estacada; 2 from Gladstone; 4 from Lake Oswego; 11 from Milwaukie; 1 from Molalla; 1 from Mulino; 9 from Oregon City; 1 from Sandy and 4 from West Linn.

The process to engrave the Memorial Stone begins this week.
This is being done by an Oregon owned business, OM Stone in Hillsboro.

Our local contractors will start site preparation work within the next two weeks.

We hope to complete all fundraising activity by January 31st.
